Derby Moor’s annual awards ceremony took place at The Riverside Centre, Pride Park on Monday 4th December. The event was attended by over 400 students, their parents and guests, as well as special guests Councillor John Whitby, Mayor of Derby; Mr Jay Bhundia, Tidyco; Louise Shepherd, Alderhey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust: Nicola Landsborough, Dupont and Martin Care, Bombardier.
Students received awards to recognise progress, achievement and excellence over 8 curriculum areas.
Special Guest and Derby Moor Alumni Louise Shepherd, CBE from the Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust shared her inspirational story and how her team at Alderhay is changing children’s lives. You could hear a pin drop in the room.
Special mention must be given to Imogen Griffiths who won 8 awards in total including high achievement awards in RS, English, Maths and PE as well as KS4 Scientist of the Year, Cllr Paul Hezelgrave Award for Languages and the School Values Award for Achievement.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by the choir of Derby Moor and an amazing performance of “One Summers’Day” by Burt Cundy on Keyboard.
