Bombardier Bringing Learning to Life!

Dr Niloufar Motazedi from Bombardier came in to school on Thursday 12 December 2019 to work with fifty Year 9 students.

The aim of the sessions was to raise the profile of Computer Science and how it can help in different career paths and play a big role in the future.

In Year 9, students make choices about what GCSEs they would like to take.  To hear from employers like Bombardier about how they use a particular subject in their work provides students with the knowledge about the link between the subjects they choose in school and how it can affect their future career choices.

To have Dr Niloufar Motazedi from Bombardier visit the school to talk about her role as a Research and Optimisation Analyst is a fantastic example of this.

"It is important to encourage students from an early age; it can be really confusing to understand how subjects at school are applicable in industry” said Dr Niloufar Motazedi..

Students looked at different activities that Bombardier and other organisations use to help promote Computer Science and how they use it to help their companies.

The students found the session informative.  Student Awen Hussain said:

“I didn’t realise how Computer Science at school links into the world of work. I can now see how it can be used to come up with better ways to help people in work”.

We would like to thank Bombardier and Jacqui Kinch, Enterprise Co-ordinator from Derby City Council for organising the session for us.
