Business Breakfast a huge Success
On Wednesday 6th September, Derby Moor organised a Business Breakfast in partnership with Teach First.
The event which was attended by all the staff at the school and a number of local businesses was a huge success. We were very fortunate to be joined by representatives from Bombardier, FMC, Buildbase, Rolls Royce and Hays Recruitment and Teach First.
The objective of the event was to invite local businesses into the school to learn more about the school and for staff to learn how businesses can support our work through the curriculum.
The morning started with a networking breakfast followed by a presentation from Lana Jay of Teach First about the importance of Business and School partnerships. This was followed by a presentation from Vice Principal Tom McDowell on changes to the curriculum and the grading system and what this will mean for businesses in the region.
As a result of the event a number of positive partnerships were forged between departments and our business partners. The Maths department will be working with Buildbase this year , Bombardier will be forming a partnership with Technology and FMC are supporting careers in Human Development. We hope this will be the start of many more opportunities over the next few months.
Assistant Vice Principal, Mr Kilgour who organised the event said “ It was great to see so many local businesses and staff from school building relationships to work together. We are looking forward to seeing some of our business partners at our Awards Evening in December”
