Next Steps Evening
Post 16 choices are a critical time for our students and as a school we want to ensure that parents/carers are fully aware of all the post 16 provision that is available to their child to enable them to make informed decisions about the next steps in their education.
The Next Steps evening took place on Tuesday 19th September with presentations from external providers including: college, apprenticeship and traineeship routes, as well as a presentation about school sixth forms.
Parents and students had the opportunity to meet key members of staff who currently support Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) within school.
They also attended a presentation on the skills and resilience needed to achieve and make Year 11 a success for their child.
This year we had representatives from local businesses: Bombardier, Derby Buildbase and the NHS. All of whom were able to talk to students about the various career opportunities within their organisations and offer students the chance to speak to some of their apprentices/staff and hear first-hand what it is like to work for them.
Feedback from parents and students was that they found it very informative and useful in helping them make informed decisions about post 16 provision.
