Principal's Update - 20th November 2020

Dear Families,

I write to you with what has become a weekly update about our provision for next week. I hope this finds you in good health.

On Monday 23rd November Year 7 students should return to school unless they are in a period of self-isolation (in this case they should remain at home until that period ends). We look forward to welcoming them back to classes and they should bring any work completed at home with them to the relevant lessons throughout the week.

We are still facing challenges around staffing our entire curriculum as outlined last week, however, the situation at present looks more positive and we are able to open to all Year Groups from Monday 23rd. From Monday, we ask the following:

  • Students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 will come to school as normal, unless they are in a period of self-isolation, in which case they should stay at home.
  • Year 9 families should remain on alert as we may have to move to online learning via Show My Homework later in the week. We will review the situation each day and notify parents via the website and email if we need to do this.

May I remind families that any child asked to self-isolate must stay at home. They should not be seen in the community or around local primary schools as it defeats the object of the isolation and puts the rest of the community and other schools at risk.

I am looking forward to more stability in our staffing over the coming weeks and less disruption for families. Hopefully this is the first week of many where we have all year groups present. Thank you for your efforts with your children throughout this term, either in helping them with online learning or preparing them for school, with face coverings and a new routine. Thank you also for the messages of support you have sent our staff, they have helped to keep our morale buoyant through these challenging times.

Best wishes to you and your family,

Scott Doyle
