Principal's Update 7th May 2021

Dear Families,

I hope this update finds you and your family in good health. I have just a couple of brief updates this week:

Parents Evenings

Thanks to all our families who attended the Year 8 parents evening this week and a reminder that the Year 9 evening will take place on the 19th May. This will also be online. We will be seeking feedback on these later in the year to help shape how they will run as we go forwards into the next academic year.

High Expectations

A reminder that we are back to our usual expectations around punctuality, uniform and mobile phones. Thank you to all families for their support with this. For clarity, our uniform expectations can be found here. If you are unsure, please contact your child’s Year Manager who will assist you. Mobiles phones are not allowed in school. We allow students to bring them but they should not be seen or used during the school day. If a student breaks this expectation their phone will be confiscated on the first occasion. Any repetition will require parents to come into school to collect it. Families should not contact their child using their mobile during the school day and instead should use the school number so calls can be directed as appropriate. Thank you for your continued support with this.

Telephone system

You may be aware that we had some difficulty with our phone network on Thursday evening. This is now fully functional again. We apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused and urge any families who unsuccessfully tried to contact school on Thursday to make contact again next week.

Mock Examinations

The mock period has now come to an end with a few students who missed examinations catching up throughout this week. Our students conduct during the exams has been exemplary, as ever. May I remind you that we will not be sharing the outcome of these tests with students as they form part of the portfolio of evidence we will be using to calculate their final grades for the summer.

Field and Fixtures

We have opened up a section of our playing fields for students to use at break and lunch this week and, with the warmer weather, it has felt like the summer is on its way. In conjunction with that, we are also pleased to be able to resume sporting fixtures for those students involved in our school teams.

Covid 19

A reminder that students should continue with home testing every Sunday and Wednesday and that any positive results should be emailed in to our address as soon as possible.

Eid Celebrations

Eid Mubarak to all families who will be celebrating next week. A reminder that we will have our Eid Fair in school on Friday 14th. Students wishing to purchase food items at the fair will need to bring the correct change to do so. Posters will be shared with students showing the activities and prices for the day.

Best wishes,

Scott Doyle
